Fun night last night

I had a really nice night last night! I have not had such an enjoyable time in, I don't know when it was last. I went to a planning meeting for MOPS and I am on the steering team. I am doing publicity and hospitality. We all had yummy Chinese food together and just had a nice time planning and laughing about silly things the kids do. It was so nice to be with a whole bunch of other moms who all have little kids too.

The one mom showed a picture of her son who is about 2, they found him after they put him down for a nap totally naked in his bed all curled up! From poop incidents to keeping their clothes on it was just fun to be able to talk to them about stuff and have people say, oh yeah, that has happened to me too! We were laughing so hard because one of the ladies was telling how when she took her little cousin to the bathroom and her aunt forgot to tell her about little boys in the bathroom. She didn't help him hold it down and it went all over her grandma's bathroom! She started laughing then and he started laughing and it was even worse!!!! Anyhow, I let poor Moriah baby sit Paul and Hans until 11 and felt bad because it went alot later than I expected, but I am glad I did it!

I bought a bunch of stuff to can yesterday and have been working on it, but discovered I do not have as many jars as I thought I did! I canned 7 jars of tomatoes and 9 qts peaches and 3 pints of peaches and am about out of jars! I have a few more, but I guess I am going to have to go collecting as I have a box and half of peaches to do yet and half a box of tomatoes that I am going to make into salsa.

Anyhow, it sure makes for a hot house and sort of sticky and juicy kitchen! It is fun to see the jars lined up though!

Getting ready for school and tired

I have been working on getting the house organized and ready for school. I got some charts for the walls. I have one with the plain alphabet on it, a border with the cursive alphabet, and charts for long and short vowels. I got the chalkboard hung up and I just need to get the shelves a bit more organized in my office. I am working on finding a couple of desks for the boys which I think I am going to line up against the wall in their bedroom facing the hallway. That way maybe we will have things a bit more organized to do school this year. I have their phonics books ordered and the majority of them are here. I have a few things coming though! I think it will be more exciting for them if they have them come in the mail. So, the 2 older boys will have desks and Lee will sit at the little table.

I have been so tired lately. I mean, just cannot sleep well. I think it mostly because of back pain, I cannot relax enough. I don't know if it my bed or because I am fighting off a cold. Anyhow, when I am tired, my brain does not function as well and then no blog writing!

I took some pictures of us at the fair looking at the animals, so maybe I will post those soon. We had alot of fun that day!

I ended up being too tired to get to chruch this morning, so rested and had a quiet morning. I cleaned the house some, vacuumed and am washing laundry. Some of the towels were damp I guess, and they are making the house smell bad. What do you do when that happens? It seems like even though I am pretty fast to get it washed that it ends up making the house smell sort of sour for the day at least. I do not like to use alot of fake air fresheners, but it frustrates me!

Vintage Homekeeping for the 20th century woman

I have this book and I cannot find out how to get more of them. Does anyone else know that is familiar with this book? It is a interesting book. I have not used everything in it, but it is a great resource. It is very simple and to the point.

It has charts of different chore lists to copy and use like Weekly, monthly and Bi-yearly and yearly chores. It has lists of yearly supplies to purchase for everything from school to sheets and paper products. There is a section on Once a month cooking which is one of the easiest that I have ever seen.

I wish that I could find more things I could freeze that I knew would be really good to eat later. I remember when we did this once growing up and some things were really good and some were really bad! We had made a couple of each and it is hard to waste.

Anyhow, if you have heard of where to get more copies, let me know! It would be nice to share this with more people.

$50 worth of groceries for less than $25

I guess it depends on what you look at whether you would have bought the product at it's original value or not, as to whether you really saved that much, but anyhow, it is fun to see that!!!

Cereal was on sale for $1 a box for really good kinds of cereal and fairly good sized boxes. Ground beef for $1 a pound which is really good for here, also if you bought 3 quarts of yogurt at $2 each you saved $2.50 on your meat. It was Mtn. High yogurt which is sweetened with fructose and naturally made. Anyhow, I have a freezer with 10 lbs. of ground beef in it now and lots of cereal etc. I also got pasta, tomatoes, instant refried beans and other things for that money.

Do you think?

Life will ever settle down for us? Grandma got out of the the hospital so now she is at my aunts's house. We are going to have to be over there alot trying to help with her care and just talking to her.

I am also trying to organize for school and get the house in order for the school year. The boys room is comig along nicely, except for now we have bags of give away stuff sitting in there.

I have most of my schoolbooks together. I have a couple things to order yet, but this is what I am planning for the most part, for at least the first part of the year.

BJU Math 2 end of the book

Adventures in Phonics Level C

Handwriting without Tears

Christian Kids explore Chemistry

Living books and Audio stories for history

Saxon Math

Adventures in Phonics Level A

Handwriting without tears

Audio books

The only things I need to get nailed down is the exact ouline of what I am doing for history this year. I am going to do them all together. Also for L. and A. who are 4 and 2, I am collecting alot of preschool info and want to set up alot of things for them this year. I am hoping to teach L. some stuff along with H. I do not want to push them too fast, but I also do want them to fall behind.

I have got to get my printer working so I can print some of the wonderful things there are online. At least I can use it as a copy machine. I have seen some of the file folder games and Preschool in a bag activities, that I want to do. I am hoping to be able to get together with more homeschool moms this year.

There is also a possibility that I may end up watching a baby this year a couple days a week. It would be very nice to add to my income, although alot of extra work.

I am also praying about getting into this program where you help build your own house and get it alot cheaper that way. I know my family feels like it is too far off, but I have time!

This week

has been incredibly busy! My grandmother came for a visit and has been in the hospital this last week, so I have been going back and forth to the hospital to stay with her alot.

My mom took 2 of the boys to family camp with her so it was fairly quiet, just lots of travel and with gas prices like they are, that was not fun! I hope that I can finish getting my office clean again and ready for school this week and finish the boys room.

It has been really nice to be able to spend time with my grandma. It is hard to see her sick, but nice to have the time with her.
