Sore today….

Yesterday there was a prediction for more snow so my sister and I decided to shovel off the roof. F. had to do something else and my sister’s husband was sick. so we put on our snow pants, borrowed a ladder from the neighbors and went at it. We decided just to do the garage and hope the house is okay, as that was scary enough and boy ‘o boy, am I sore today! My shoulder mostly, just one side……I know, weird! i did not take any pictures of us up there, although thought I should have later, but it was a bit scary, I hate ladders, and the chance of sliding off was very real the whole time!
It was a fun adventure though and gave us the chance to see our neighbors dog come outside with a big litter of the cutest puppies! They are dark Golden retrievers and so, so cute! I wish they stayed like that! She had nine of them so that made them even more cute to see so many!

We did not get all the snow they said this time, but it may get warm and then cold which makes the snow there heavier, so I am glad we did it!
I took a hot bath with wintergreen oil in it to loosen up the muscles and may go see my friend the chiropractor, again this week! I am now in cozy pajamas and ready to curl up with a good book!
I have been sort of lazy so have not gotten my pictures downloaded, so be patient! You can see all our snow someday!

Snow, snow and more snow

As I made a wild dash for the bank this afternoon you are trying to get through the streets where there is a plowed lane just big enough for my car on the side streets and in some areas you had to work up speed to just get through, but not too much or you may slide into a parked car.
We spent the day examining the roof to see if it is strong enough to withstand the weight of all the snow and may have to shovel the garage if anymore comes our way, which it sounds like may be tomorrow. I guess, yesterday there was a roof that collapsed already.

F. was out shoveling and shoveling the huge pile the snow plow piled behind our van, when a man coming by saw him and stopped. He had a plow on the front of his truck and in a few minutes had it pushed out of the way for us! It was so nice! it is amazing how thoughtful things like that can really brighten someone’s day.

H. is finally going to get home today as my mom brought him down. He has been stuck at my parents for a week! We all miss him very badly!

My mom bought me a new bookshelf at this furniture store that was going out of business and it is all solid wood and very tall, like 7 feet tall. I am sure it will not take me long before that one is full too! i was running out of bookshelves and I have an entire wall in my office covered in them! But now, i have more space and was able to put all the books I got for my birthday, gifts, and ones I won on blog giveaway’s on there so I can read them!
Tonight we were supposed to have stuffed shells or Lasagna, but ricotta was too expensive at the store! They wanted $6 for a container!! So, we will have pasta instead or pizza if I feel like it. i really wanted Lasagna too. Oh well! Maybe next week!

Snowed in….I think!

Well as snowed in as you can be living in town! We got another foot of snow or more overnight and it snowed all day today. People were getting stuck in the street all day!!! Finally this evening a plow came by and plowed out some things, but there were only skinny ways through the streets where you would spin sideways when you went to turn…..it was an adventure! i would not have gone anywhere, but i had a DVD to return and i did not want to pay for it again!

i took some pictures i will post sometime tomorrow! F. and P. were busy shoveling out all day, trying to keep a path clean for the mail lady as she walks to our house and the neighborhood! I would not want to be her right now…..although she does look pretty fit.

Anyhow, we are thinking about shoveling the roof as it has alot of snow on it and i am not sure if it melt if the roof will handle it. I saw many other people shoveling their roofs, so we are thinking about it. Maybe i will get my brother to come and do it!

For now, I am baking bread, enjoying nice big cups of hot tea and snug, warm pajamas sound really good right now!!
Good night!

Wednesday: Beef tacos with steak strips and peppers, salsa, avocado (Snacks for New Years night: Homemade caramel corn and finger jello)
Thursday: Mashed potatoes with meat gravy, Apple dumplings, and homemade applesauce (i have to take care of the last of the apples in the basement. Hopefully I really get to it!)
Friday: Crockpot soup, homemade bread

Monday: Baked potatoes, salad
Tuesday: Clean out the fridge day- leftovers and stuff I can make what is in the fridge!

We are still using up mashed potatoes that F. made while i was up at moms! He made enough for an army! i made homemade perogies or some version of them that were really, really good, I wish I wanted to make the rest of the potatoes into it. But now I have apples to take care of! My to do list is as long as my arm, or so it feels like!

So, how is this new year treating you? It has been beautiful here, with lots of snow coming down. We have had non-stop snow pretty much for the past few days, which has been wonderful, but lots of shoveling.

Last night we went to our pastor’s house for a New Year’s celebration and actually made it until midnight. We had lots of good snacks, homemade salsa, chips, cookies, homemade caramel, caramel popcorn, finger jello, tea, apple cider, cake and other stuff. It was alot of fun!

I am hoping my sister comes over today before she goes back to school far, far away, so I had better get to work! i have been busy trying to get some people who blog for TEACH magazine set up as well as work on some ad selling. Plus, I have been doing short days of school with the boys with Time4Learning. It has been interesting to keep up!

Hope you are all having a wonderful January First!
