Who am I?
Often times throughout out our lives we are asked the question of who we are. What defines us as people? Is it what we do in our daily lives or is it how we live them?
I work hard most days. I homeschool my four boys, I am a certified doula, an aspiring writer, and a devoted mother. I am highly involved in the community; I volunteer with the homeschool group, the local library, organize events if I can. Is that what defines me?
We often ask ourselves questions in life, but I think more often we ignore the questions because we are too busy with the mundane to realize life is where we are now.
• Have you always dreamed of traveling?
• Do you say, “I will do that “someday”?
• Do you often say, “I used to do that.”?
• What things have you given up in life that was truly important because of lack of organization, circumstances and other obstacles?
How can you change these things?
Our lives are fleeting, our time with our children, our family, our community is a brief moment, and if we do not take the time to live deliberately, we can end up with regrets for the all the things we planned on doing, and did not because the house was a mess.
For myself, I have found that making a conscious choice about my life has helped me to not live with regrets.
I take the time to exercise:
I enrich my life with education by attending classes and conferences on topics I wish to learn more about:
I relax my mind by reading fiction and doing something to just enjoy life. I also participate in local and online book clubs:
I spend time making good food for my family that I can feel good about them eating.
I also take the time to volunteer for projects that are important to me. I have volunteered as a doula, I volunteer at the library and at mother’s support groups.
These things are what makes up my life and in the end, they do define me. They make up the person that I am, as well as the people I am shaping my children to be. My choices effect others around me in a good or bad way. If I choose to live my life without purpose, I will not have a positive impact in my community around me or on my family either.
Are you taking the time to live life deliberately? Are you doing the things in your daily life that are important to you?
Take a step back and look at your life to see what things you would like to have in your daily impact!
