First snow!

We got our first good snow yesterday! We got over 3 inches! It has been cold too! We have not put the winter tires on as I hope that it melts and goes away…..I hate driving in the winter!

I have a bunch of tomatoes to can! Why is it that when it snows it does not seem like you should have to can anymore? They are all over my kitchen floor right now so I really need to take care of them before I get tons of fruit flies.

New Moms

I have been thinking alot about new moms and the things they need to know and just trying to learn what is the best way to tell them stuff.

You know, I do not want to come across as pushy or negative, but then in some instances you wonder if you should have pushed more.

I got so tired those first couple months as my son was very colicky. I remember my SIL saying, “Give him until he is three months old and it will be so much better.” I thought I would die before he was three months old! But you know, looking back she was the only one who gave me much hope! She said she had been there, she knew it was hard and it does get better with time. Is that best advice?

What was your best piece of advice someone gave you?

Also on breastfeeding, I am real staunch breastfeeder. I mean I understand totally there are people that cannot breastfeed and have trouble with it, but I do not believe it is as high of a precentage as it is preceived. I have seen friends who truly have trouble breastfeeding and some people who really just do not want to do the work of it. So, how do you deal with that? How do you help someone without them just ignoring what you say because “She is a fanatic breastfeeder!” ?

What about freezer meals? Did you like having meals in the freezer when you had your first baby or was it not needed?

They have all kinds of toys and animals there at the Pumpkin Patch. It is really nice because it is all sorts of harvest stuff, but nothing for halloween. The boys loved riding the tricycles and pedal carts.

We went to the Pumpkin Patch with MOPS! Some of the ladies on the little wagon train were ladies from MOPS too! My grandma came too and my cousin who was up visiting from CA. It was really nice.

How quickly an event can change all your plans! I had a friend who had asked for me to be at her birth with mom, instead of her regular assistant so I had said yes, but then when mom calls me, I had this interesting night. It was abour 12:30 am. I had walked into my headboard earlier trying to see my clock. Anthony has had difficulty sleeping, so was still awake and I was so tired! I had a big day planned for Mon. and just said “Mom, I do not know how to do it!” I have this little cold too! Anyhow, long story short, I canceled plans, called people early in the morning and got to be there for my second birth for my doula thing and third one in the last three weeks, besides being away from home for 3.5 days in there too! I said “No wonder my house is a wreck and I am losing my voice!”

Anyhow, short version of my last few weeks! I have a sore eye and although it did not turn totally black, it does not look nice!
